A Lulu Looks Forward To…Book Review
Title: Not ‘Til Tomorrow, Phoebe
Author: Julie Zwillich
Illustrated By: Denise Holmes
Publisher: Owlkids Books Inc.
Publishing Date: March 15, 2018
Not ‘Til Tomorrow, Phoebe is the second book in the adorable Phoebe series! Lulu and I recently enjoyed Phoebe in, Phoebe Sounds It Out (2017). So we were excited to learn that Julie Zwillich has written another Phoebe book! Now, you will have to wait a couple of more tomorrows before it hits the shelves but, like Phoebe, your tomorrows soon turn into todays!!!
Yesterday, today, and tomorrow! These are concepts that young children learn in preschool. Along with the days of the week, the date, month and year. When teaching preschool I would review the days of the week on the calendar each morning at group time. I would ask the children what today is, what yesterday was, and what tomorrow will be. This helped the children to begin to grasp an understanding of past, present, and future.
Phoebe is having a hard time with the concept of, tomorrow. Not that she does not understand when it is…ooh she does! Tomorrow is tomorrow! Phoebe just wonders why everything FUN seems to always happen…tomorrow! What about today?
Tomorrow, tomorrow, tomorrow!!!
Not ‘Til Tomorrow, Phoebe is a great book to read to children when introducing the concept of time and the days of the week. This is also a great book to teach children about patience! Phoebe, like many young children wants everything now! She cannot and does not want to wait for tomorrow! So much so the thought of tomorrow began to make her sad and even angry! Luckily, Phoebe’s Grammy always has the answers (and secret ingredients) to life and baking cookies! Phoebe receives a good life lesson on how today become tomorrow and how they then become our yesterdays!
We love the topics author Julie Zwillich explores in her books. She addresses common childhood issues in a relevant and fun way! And Phoebe is the cutest!!! Shout out to illustrator Denise Holmes! We look forward to reading more Phoebe books!!!
